Terms of Use

Budgy is a budgeting tool with a free version and an optional Pro subscription. These terms explain what you can expect from it and what we expect from you.

Who provides Budgy

Budgy is provided by Daniele Punturo, Kreuzgasse 81, 1180 Vienna, Austria (budgy.support@gmail.com).

Who can use it

As a guest, anyone can use Budgy, at any age - nothing about you is sent to us. Budgy is not designed for children under 13, so younger users should use it together with a parent or guardian.

To create an account you must be at least 16 years old. When you ask for one, you confirm that you are. Before you start, you also tick a box to accept these terms; the Privacy Policy is there for you to read (it informs you, it is not something you agree to). We keep the date and version of your acceptance, and ask you again if the terms change in a way that matters.

Guest mode and accounts

You can use Budgy as a guest without an account; your data then lives only on your device. An account (sign in with Apple or Google) is only needed to share with a household. You can sign out or delete your account at any time in the app.

Households

Sharing with a household is optional and needs an account. You decide what you share and with whom: share only with people you trust, and only information you are entitled to share. Members see your joint accounts and the expenses you chose to share, read-only, and everyone in the household can change the shared bills. You can leave at any time, and the person who started a household can remove a member or delete it.

Shared figures are copies made at a moment in time and can be a little behind. The shared bills list records who marked a bill as paid, and the "Who owes whom" figure splits the shared expenses and the paid shared bills equally and subtracts the payments members record themselves; both are only aids for the members. Budgy is not a payment service, moves no money and does not create debts or obligations between members.

Budgy Pro (optional)

Some features are part of Budgy Pro, an optional subscription that unlocks the features marked Pro in the app. The free version stays free, with no ads and no tracking. Starting a household needs Pro; people invited to a household join free, and need their own Pro for the Pro features.

Pro is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which handle the payment, the price in your country, renewal and refunds under their own terms. A subscription renews automatically for the same period until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends. A free trial, where offered, becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Your statutory right of withdrawal and the refund rules are those of the store you buy from.

Your own data is never held back: exporting it, saving a backup file and deleting it stay free, with or without Pro. If Pro ends you keep everything you entered, and the Pro features lock again.

Your data and your backups

Your data is yours. Budgy stores it on your device, so losing the device, clearing the app's data or uninstalling it can delete it. Budgy helps with on-device safety copies and backup files, but keeping a backup is your responsibility. Budgy does not store your data on its servers, so we cannot restore it for you.

Not financial advice

Budgy is a planning and record-keeping tool. Its numbers, forecasts, tips and insights are based on what you enter and on simple assumptions; they can be wrong or incomplete. Nothing in Budgy is financial, tax, investment or legal advice. Check important figures yourself and ask a qualified professional before making significant financial decisions. Budgy does not connect to your bank and cannot move your money.

The Invest section shows how much of your own budget is left after your plan, a checklist built from your own answers, and general education. Budgy is not an investment adviser and gives no investment advice or personal recommendation. It does not recommend any security, fund, crypto-asset, precious metal or provider, it does not assess whether an investment suits you, and it is not an investment recommendation. Investments can lose value, and past growth says nothing about the future. The values of what you own are typed in by you or read from a statement file you choose to import, on your device; Budgy does not connect to a broker or exchange, does not fetch prices, and cannot buy or sell anything for you.

Using Budgy properly

• Do not try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or access other people's accounts or data.
• Do not use it for anything unlawful.
• Keep the email account you sign in with secure.

Our rights in Budgy

Budgy - its software, texts, illustrations (including the character Budgy), design and name - is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights and belongs to Daniele Punturo. Budgy and the Budgy logo are used as trademarks of Daniele Punturo.

You get a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your own budgeting, as described in these terms. You may not copy, modify, redistribute, sell or sublicense the app, its code or its artwork, or use them to build another app. Rights you have by law that cannot be waived, for example to examine software for interoperability, stay unaffected.

Your own data stays yours: we claim no rights in what you enter.

Availability and changes

The free version of Budgy is offered free of charge and as is. We try to keep it running and improving but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue the service we will give you notice and time to export your data.

Liability

We are liable without limit for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and wherever the law does not allow liability to be limited. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations and only for foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract, and not for lost data to the extent you could have avoided the loss by keeping a backup. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Ending the contract

You can stop using Budgy and delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms or endangers the service.

Intellectual property

The app, its design and Budgy the poodle belong to the operator. You get a personal, non-exclusive right to use the app. Your data and content remain yours.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will tell you in the app before a material change applies to you, and you may stop using Budgy and delete your account if you do not agree.

Governing law

Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
